EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE FOR FAYETTE COUNTY RESIDENTS

FAYETTE COUNTY RESIDENTS

In an effort to provide assistance for Fayette County residents affected by COVID-19, funds have been made available through the Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) program from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Qualified renters who currently reside in Fayette County may be eligible for assistance to help pay their rent, rental arrears, current utility and home energy costs, or utilities and home energy costs arrears and is designed to help residents avoid potential eviction.

An "eligible household" is defined as a renter household in which at least one or more individuals meets the following criteria:

​

  • Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19;

  • Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and

  • The household is a low-income family

Housing assistance is available to Clayton and Fayette County residents.

 

Program Eligibility
 

 YOU MUST BE:

  • Employed or have a source of income

  • Must fall below the established poverty level at the time of application

  • Must have a hardship

  • Must be able to maintain rent following assistance

  • Must complete Financial Money Management and Budgeting Course (online)

 

ONCE A CASE MANAGER HAS DETERMINED YOU ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:
 

  •  Applications will only be accepted online.  A Case Manager will email you an application once eligibility is determined.
     

  •  All incomplete applications will result in an automatic denial.  Please note that participants are only eligible to receive assistance once in a 18 month span (depending on hardship and approval). 
     

  • You will be contacted via email or phone when your application has been received, reviewed, and currently in process. Please note processing can take up to 30 days to complete.
     

Follow all the steps listed below to comply with the program's required documents. Clients must provide all documents and complete a Money Management Course before funds can be disbursed.  

 

DOCUMENT SUBMISSION 

 

SUBMIT ALL DOCUMENTS AT ONCE IN ONE EMAIL - to avoid a delay in application processing.

If you have been instructed by a Case Manager to proceed with your application, please provide the following documents. A Case Manager will follow up within 72 hours if any additional information is required. 

​

  1. Housing Assistance Application

  2. Social Security Cards for all household members

  3. Income -Copy of last 30 days of pay all sources of income -Most Recent

  4. Late Notice

  5. All pages of Lease Agreement/ Welcome Letter

  6. Notice denoting change in income

  7. Proof of hardship- (unemployment,  car repairs bill, medication receipt, funeral program as well as receipt, anything pertaining to your hardship

  8. ID for all household members 18 years and older

  9. Money Management Course Certificates 

 

Please, make sure all items requested are all sent within one email for processing. Use the list above as a checklist to ensure all documents are submitted.

Application processing may take up to 30 days.  A status update cannot be provided until a final decision has been reached. Should there be an issue with your application a Case Manager will reach out to you.

Incomplete applications/failure to submit required documents within a stated timeframe will result in an automatic denial.

Please note that participants are only eligible to receive assistance once in an 18 month time span (depending on hardship and enterprise approval).
